Why Dana Point

Dana Point is recognized as the world’s whale and dolphin capital and designated a Whale Heritage Site (WHS).

Dana Point is also home to many notable conservationists, marine biologists, and to the Ocean Institute, which dedicated to ocean education founded in 1977. It offers ocean science and maritime history programs for students K-12 and teachers.

Need

71% of our planet is covered with water. Over 96% of our water is in our oceans.

Every year DPFF celebrates our oceans showcasing films that recognize the importance of keeping our oceans clean and healthy. DPFF will be screening and awarding films that educate and entertain our guests.

Education

DPFF is a place where filmmakers can share their works. Aspiring filmmakers can learn from experienced professionals. Our audience can marvel at the beauty of these works. Films selected will focus on surfing, education, preservation, recreation, and conservation.

We invite prominent global speakers who lecture, inform, and engage our audiences. DPFF’s Global Student Film Competition aims to inspire and encourage young filmmakers.
